Shocking moment car rammed off road into tree during high speed police chase

This is the shocking moment a car careers off the road and smashes into a row of trees after it's rammed by a police car during a high speed chase.

Dashcam footage just released by Greater Manchester Police shows the Fiat Punto hurtle through a road closure on St Peter's Way in Bolton.

A police car gives chase and draws alongside the Fiat, which had reached speeds of up to 70mph.

The police car then draws alongside the Punto and makes contact, forcing it off the road onto a grass verge and into a barrier and trees.

Jailed for two weeks

The driver, Mardoche Koko, from Birmingham, was later jailed for two weeks after being convicted of driving without due care and attention and insurance fraud, reports the Birmingham Mail.

He was also handed fines totalling £1,000 and given five penalty points on his driving licence.

The incident took place on August 13, 2018 but police have just released the footage.

GMP's Central Motorway Police Group tweeted: "On 13/08/18 a Fiat Punto breached a police closure on St Peter's Way Bolton risking the safety of officers at the scene.

"This week Mardoche Koko from Birmingham was sentenced for due care and insurance fraud, he received fines totalling £1000 + 5 points plus 14 days imprisonment."
