Jeremy Clarkson under fire for criticising police as they investigate M4 crash

Jeremy Clarkson has been criticised for complaining about road closures near the M4 following a major crash that saw a man airlifted to hospital.

Traffic was held up near Heathrow Airport on Thursday to allow an air ambulance onto the carriageway.

The collision between a car and a motorcycle initially closed the motorway in both directions.

Tweeting to his 7m followers, the presenter opined: "Dear the M4 Police. The injured have now been taken care of. So here's an idea. Open the road."

Criticism followed the tweet with many accusing Clarkson of being insensitive.

One follower replied: "Presume the police have accident investigation work to which I presume you would want done if it was you or your family member that had been seriously injured?"

Clarkson's latest tweet comes just two weeks after a similar post when he blasted police for being slow to re-open a road following a crash which led to a pensioner's death.
