Woman seriously injured in car crash near safari park

A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a two-car crash near Blair Drummond Safari Park.

The incident happened on the A84 at around 2.20pm on Thursday, when a white Volkswagen Beetle travelling southbound collided with a silver Mercedes heading in the other direction.

Emergency services attended and the 68-year-old was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours with a seven-mile diversion in place.

Shortly after 9pm, Traffic Scotland tweeted to say the scene had been cleared.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or noticed either vehicle before the incident.
