Samantha Markle has begged her half-sister Meghan to allow their father Thomas to be part of baby Archie’s life.

The Duchess of Sussex has been estranged from the Markle family since before her wedding to Prince Harry last year.

But with the arrival of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the Markles have been vocal about whether Meghan’s dad Thomas should be permitted a role in the royal baby’s life.

Yesterday, Thomas’s ex-wife, Samantha’s mother Roslyn Markle, warned the couple to steer clear of her ex-husband, claiming he was an ‘awful father’ who won’t change, and that Meghan ‘would be a fool to have him in her life’.

But now Samantha, her daughter with Thomas, says her mum has ‘no right’ to say such things about her and Meghan’s dad.

Samantha told The Mirror: “Roslyn has no right after all these years to say these things. She just wants to hurt him.

“I was raised by my father because I asked to go live with him as my mother was too busy partying to be a mother.

“My dad always provided for us. If he was so horrible and me and Thomas Jnr went to live with him instead of her, what does that say about her?”

Talking of her father being excluded from the birth, Samantha said: “It’s sad. He should have been involved.

“Being excluded is like a dagger through his heart. And poor Master Archie is not getting to know a creative, loving person.

“We always have been desperate to heal the rift, but it’s up to Meghan to reach out now.

“He is a doting granddad and he’s been great with all his other grandkids. He buys toys, plays creative games, he’s funny and nurturing and communicative with them.”

Samantha added: “Meghan knows in her heart dad is a good dad. If he deserved this treatment I’d say it, but he doesn’t.

“He has a good heart.”

Samantha plans to give her new nephew a photo album as a christening gift that contains pictures of all of the Markle clan. She hopes the gift will ensure he grows up knowing about the other side of his family. She said: “He needs to get a wider sense of family – because he isn’t just a Mountbatten-Windsor child, he’s a Markle too.

“There’s a connection and we exist.”
