Charles and Camilla end Germany tour with visit to organic farm

The Prince of Wales ended his tour of Germany by holding a chicken at an organic farm.

Charles – who was eventually joined by the Duchess of Cornwall at Herrmannsdorfer Organic Farm just outside of Munich – visited bee hives, piglets and cohabiting cows and pigs on Friday.

The prince and the duchess were greeted by well-wishers, as one member of the crowd, Christina Mendi, presented them with tankards displaying their faces.

Many locals had travelled to the farm to catch a glimpse of the couple, with some shouting: “Welcome to Bavaria, your Royal Highnesses.”

Members of the public waved Union Jack flags and tried to shake the prince and the duchess’s hand in the bright sunshine.

Before meeting the locals, Charles was first offered the opportunity to try some of the honey which had been made at the farm after being shown the queen bee by the head beekeeper.

The prince then observed the cohabitation space for chickens, cows and pigs at the farm and learned about its research into cohabitation and symbiotic organic farming practices.

While Charles had a tour of the animals, Camilla learned how to make pretzels with some children and tried some of the local coffee.

The couple then concluded their four-day tour by tasting German beer, sausages and pretzels at a farmers market before heading to the airport.
