Police find there was no criminality over reported robbery

Police investigating a report of a robbery in Moray have concluded that no crime was committed.

Officers had been probing reports that a low four-figure sum of money was taken from a woman at a property in the Keith Road area of Burghead on Thursday December 27 last year.

Police Scotland said a 48-year-old woman has been charged in relation to allegedly wasting police time and an alleged fraudulent scheme.

She will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court at a later date.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Wilson said: “A thorough investigation was carried out and it has been established that no crime was committed in relation to the robbery.

“We are grateful to the community for its support while inquiries were carried out.”
