Woman crashes her car after seeing a spider while driving
A woman in New York totaled her car on Wednesday after discovering a spider while she was driving.
Police in Cairo took to their department’s Facebook page to report the crash that resulted in an unidentified woman injuring her leg. They also disclosed the cause of the crash, intending to warn others not to let the same fears impact them while operating a vehicle.
“We feel it necessary to bring up a contributing factor that is not covered too often,” the post read. “It is believed that the operator of the vehicle noticed a SPIDER in the drivers area with her as she was driving.”
According to police, the driver “panicked and crashed.” Photos of the incident show that her car took a turn for the trees and was ultimately totaled.
“We know that it is easier for some drivers than others but PLEASE, try to teach new drivers and yourselves to overcome the fear and pull over to a safe place,” the post continued. “Lives depend on it.”
People have since taken to the comments to share their own fear of spiders and to make jokes about the accident.
“For safety measures should probably burn the car too. Just to make sure it’s really dead,” one person wrote. Another said, “I would have wrecked and killed myself if it had been a snake but not a teeny spider.”
Others, however, have said that they’ve successfully pulled over when faced with the same situation and understand where the woman was coming from.
“It happens and until it happens to you you can't say you wouldn't do that,” a commenter wrote. “I am hoping the lady recovers.”
