Two-year-old girl in critical condition after fall from window

A two-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from the window of a third-floor flat.

The incident occurred on Dumbarton Road, close to Boquhanran Road, in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on Wednesday afternoon.

She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, where staff describe her condition as critical.

Detective Inspector Steve Martin is appealing for witnesses after a number of people attended to the toddler after the fall.

He said: “The little girl has sustained very serious injuries and we are trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“As such we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the child fall or anyone who has seen her at the window prior to her falling.

“A number of people were in the area at the time and came to the assistance of the girl and it is important that we speak to all of these people, therefore if any of these people left before speaking to police, we urge them to contact police immediately.

“I also ask any motorists who were in the vicinity around 2.10pm to check their dash-cam footage to see if they have captured the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 1888 of April 10.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 1407 hours to attend an incident at Dumbarton Road, Clydebank.

“We dispatched an ambulance, the trauma team and our special operations response team to the scene and one patient was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.”
