Terrified Buddhist monk looks on nervously as wild elephant raids pickup truck

This is the nerve-wracking moment a terrified monk and his friend have to keep perfectly still while an elephant raids their pickup truck in Thailand.

Their driver is forced to pull over when the enormous wild jumbo wanders onto the forest road and stops another truck in front of them.

The hungry elephant then stomps over to them after an unsuccessful search through the other car.

The startled monk looks on nervously as the elephant uses its massive trunk to rummage through the truck - picking up bags of pumpkin, bananas and guava fruit they have just bought from the market.

Moments later, the huge male elephant, believed to be in its 30s, trudges away looking for its next meal.
