New video of student Libby Squire released six weeks after her disappearance

The family of missing student Libby Squire have said they miss her “beyond belief” as they marked six weeks since she disappeared by releasing video footage of their daughter.

Hull University student Miss Squire was reported missing on February 1 and, despite intensive searches, police have found no sign of her.

The video released on Thursday shows the 21-year-old happy and smiling as she sings in a car with her family.

The footage shows Miss Squire in the passenger seat of the car being driven back to university in Hull in April 2018.

Her two sisters and brother are in the vehicle with her but are out of shot and cannot be seen.

The last known sighting of Miss Squire, who was originally from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was just after midnight on Friday February 1 at the junction of Beverley Road and Haworth Street in Hull following a night out.

Her mother, Lisa Squire, said: “As a family, we are really struggling.

“The whole family miss Libby beyond belief.

“Libby’s disappearance is having a big effect on all of us.

“Please if you have any information let the police know.”

Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley said: “For the past six weeks the amount of support from the people of Hull, the region and around the UK has been staggering.

“I want to thank everyone for their assistance and to everyone who has come forward with information to help us with our investigation so far.

“We continue to search for Libby.

“Hundreds of officers have been involved both on land and in the water and we have followed up hundreds of leads and lines of inquiry.

“Libby’s disappearance remains unexplained and while we remain hopeful, we must consider she has come to harm.”

Mr Smalley also reissued CCTV footage first released last month showing four people on Oak Road in Hull close to the junction with Clough Road around the time that Libby was last seen.

The detective said these people have still not come forward and repeated his call for them to get in touch with police.

:: Pawel Relowicz, 24, from Raglan Street, Hull, was arrested on suspicion of abduction in connection with Miss Squire’s disappearance and remains under investigation.

He has been charged with a number of unrelated offences and has been remanded in custody.
