Road-sweeper driver under investigation for drink driving after two crashes in one day
The driver of a road-sweeper who crashed twice in one day is being investigated for drink driving, police said.
North Yorkshire Police were called to a collision involving a red Volkswagen Lupo and the road-sweeper on the B6480 at High Bentham, near Skipton, at 11.34am on March 8.
A woman who was driving the Lupo was taken to Airedale Hospital with a suspected rib fracture.
Police said emergency services were dealing with the injured driver of the Lupo when the road-sweeper left the scene.
Later the same day it crashed on the A65 at Austwick, leaving the driver with a fractured ankle, a broken rib and fractured vertebrae.
The driver of the road-sweeper provided a positive roadside breath specimen and is currently under investigation on suspicion of drink driving.
It is not yet know who the roadsweeper driver was working for.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw either incident, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact them on 101.
