Newborn dies after being found in bin

A baby girl has been died after being found in a California bin.

Police chief Robert Chivas told the Los Angeles Times that cops were called to the scene behind some apartments on Thursday afternoon and found the motionless girl in the trash.

She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Chivas said investigators spoke to the parents, who live nearby, but no arrests have been made.

There's no immediate word on the cause of the infant's death.
