Police hunt men who attempted to steal pug from its owner
An investigation is underway after two men attempted to steal a pug from its owner.
A 24-year-old man had been walking the dog on Elm Row in Galshiels on Friday at around 7.45pm when he passed a white Transit van.
Two men exited the van and attempted to steal the pug, engaging in a struggle with the owner.
The suspects, who are both described as being white and stocky, were disturbed by a passing Peugeot 206 car, before getting back into the van and driving off.

Officers have urged anyone with any information regarding the incident to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Callum Peoples said: “At this time, we are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would urge anyone who believes they have any relevant information to come forward.
“Similarly, if you were on Elm Row during Friday evening and witnessed what happened, or can help us identify the men responsible then please also contact police immediately.
“In particular, we are keen to speak to the driver, and any other occupants of the Peugeot 206, which passed this incident, but didn’t stop. These individuals are also urged to get in touch.”
