Arms and ammunition seized in operation targeting dissident republicans

A number of explosives, two firearms and a large quantity of ammunition has been found by gardai targeting dissident republican groups in Co Louth.

An area in Omeath was searched on Thursday February 28.

The operation involved gardai from the Louth garda division, special detective unit and special tactics and operations command.

An explosives ordnance disposal unit from the Irish Defence Forces visited the site and some of the material was destroyed by a controlled explosion.
