Footballer arrested after woman seriously hurt

A Highland footballer has been arrested after a woman was seriously hurt in an incident in Inverness.

Richard Finnis, 30, faces charges over the incident in the Kinmylies area of the city on Saturday February 16.

His arrest follows a widely publicised search for the Strathspey Thistle player, who was reported missing on the day of the alleged offence.

A Police Scotland statement said: “Police in Inverness can confirm that a 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious incident in the Kinmylies area of the city.

“A woman suffered serious injuries during the incident, which happened shortly after 1.10pm on Saturday, February 16 on Kinmylies Way.”

Detective Inspector Eddie Ross said: “We are very grateful to the public for their support and assistance with enquiries into this incident.”
