Couple's garden destroyed by underground springs

A horrified couple face having to pay out tens of thousands of pounds after the garden at their new home was turned into a bombsite - by two hidden underground springs.

Patricia Crane, 62, and husband Ron were delighted when they moved into their £320k Essex bungalow, and quickly set about making it their new home.

However, soon after moving in they noticed the rear garden was regularly becoming seriously flooded, turning it into a quagmire.

What's more, their home was constantly damp.

Now after months of wrangling with council chiefs and environment bosses, they have discovered that two natural underground springs are the cause.

They have since been forced to pay specialist engineers to come and stop the flooding, with the final bill expected to run into the thousands.

You can see the damage caused by the springs in the video above.
