Queen expresses sadness over Brazil dam disaster

The Queen has sent a message of condolence to the president of the Brazil in the wake of the Brumadinho dam disaster.

The collapse at an iron ore mining complex on Friday has claimed at least 99 lives, with around 260 people still missing.

The Queen’s message read: “Prince Philip and I were deeply saddened to learn of the devastation and loss of life caused by the ruptured dam in Brumadinho.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost loved ones and those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected.”
