In Pictures: Vintage cars put to the test

Classic car fans had the chance to see 60 pre-war vehicles put through their paces at the historic Brooklands race track and museum in Surrey.

An array of makes and models took part in the annual driving tests event organised by the Vintage Sports-Car Club.

The cars, ranging from a 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost and an Austin Seven Special to a 1924 Bugatti T13 Brescia and a 1930 Singer Porlock, competed against the clock in a dozen events while trying to avoid any penalty-attracting mistakes.

Brooklands was the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit, constructed in 1907. It famously included two sections of banked curve track up to 30ft high, which are among the challenges in the vintage driving test day.
