Search launched for missing autistic teenager
Police are searching for an autistic teenager who disappeared from a care unit.
Lewis Birch, 16, was last seen by staff at the premises in Hurlford, East Ayrshire, at around 9.30pm on Thursday.
Officers said concern is growing for his safety and they have appealed for information about the teenager’s whereabouts.
He is white, around 5ft 8in and of medium build with dark red hair.

When last seen he was wearing a navy top, black denim jeans and an orange jacket.
Sergeant Iain Farmer said: “Lewis has been missing before, but usually returns after a few hours.
“Concern for his wellbeing and safety is growing because he hasn’t been seen since Thursday night.
“Anyone with information regarding Lewis’s whereabouts is asked to contact Kilmarnock Police Office through 101, quoting reference number 3953 of Thursday January 10.”
