Brothers stumble upon centuries-old fishing baskets

Well-preserved fishing baskets buried in silt have been found by two brothers off the coast of Monmouthshire in Wales.

The centuries-old baskets, which may date back to the 14th Century, were uncovered on the Severn Estuary following winter storms.

Brothers, Martin and Richard Morgan, said: "The level of detail was incredible".

"It's amazing to think the last person to see them was possibly in the 14th Century," Martin told BBC News.

But this isn't the first time that ancient discoveries have been made. Fishermen are always keeping an eye out for the possibility of uncovering something unexpected, claimed the brothers.

Prehistoric bones and wooden ship wrecks are just some of the things found on or near the estuary in the past.
