Firefighters free horse from pillbox

A hapless horse became trapped in a Second World War pillbox - and firefighters spent 90 minutes rescuing it.

The bizarre incident happened on Monday when the animal wandered inside the gun emplacement in a field in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, and was unable to get out again.

Staff from the East Leake Fire Station in Nottinghamshire were called out to rescue the horse, called Eve, after its owner struggled to free it from the bunker, the Daily Mail reported.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Getting through the tiny entrance did not seem any problem when going in, but proved impossible to get out."

Eve was eventually coaxed out with treats.

East Leake Fire Station shared pictures of the rescue on its Facebook page.
