Son in appeal to find mother missing for 11 years

The son of a woman who disappeared 11 years ago has appealed for help to trace her.

Chinese national Jenny Zheng, who lived in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, has not been seen since June 2007.

Ms Zheng, also known as Yu Rong Zheng, told family she was going to visit friends in the north east of England when she disappeared.

Her son Tony Liang said she is “deeply missed” in a video appeal posted online.

He said: “She is a 55-year-old Asian woman.

“The last point of contact was down in the Newcastle or Durham area.

“She told us that she was going to meet up with some friends – that was 11 years ago.

“Still to this day, it doesn’t make sense to any one of us. Her family and friends miss her deeply and are extremely worried.

“If anyone has any information in regards to my mother’s disappearance, please come forward. We need your help.”

Police Scotland said extensive inquiries across the UK and abroad have failed to trace Ms Zheng.

Chief Inspector Gillian Docherty said: “Despite the passage of time without contact, Jenny’s family are still understandably incredibly concerned for her.

“They are desperate to know where she is and find out what has happened to her.

“I would appeal to you if you have any information about Jenny, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, have any knowledge of her movements in the past 11 years or current whereabouts, please call Police Scotland via 101.

“I am also appealing directly to Jenny. If you see our appeal please get in touch.”
