Stunning image shows the sun's north pole

The European Space Agency's solar probe Proba-2 has captured the first-ever image of the sun's north pole.

According to New Scientist, the agency had to employ camera trickery to capture that perspective.

The publication explains the agency took strips from the edge of the sun, capturing the behaviour of its atmosphere in the northern hemisphere, and then stretch them out and laid them flat to approximate a view from above. That process was repeated until there was enough partial shots to create a whole.
