Elderly man dies after car crashes in field

An elderly man has died after a car left the road and crashed in a field.

Police spotted the silver Skoda Karoq in a field at the south end of the village of Muasdale in Kintyre when they were passing at around 3.10pm on Tuesday.

Other emergency services were called and the 90-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said from inquiries carried out so far, it is believed the vehicle may have been in the field for a number of hours.

They are appealing for information about the crash on the A83.

Sergeant Kevin Craig from Argyll and West Dunbartonshire road policing unit said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the silver Skoda Karoq travelling south on the A83, or leaving the road into the field, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Argyll and West Dunbartonshire road policing via 101, quoting incident number 2164 of Tuesday 27 November 2018.”
