What the papers say – November 25

Theresa May’s overcoming of a major Brexit hurdle – and huge challenges that still lie ahead – leads many of Sunday’s papers.

The Mail on Sunday leads with the Prime Minister’s efforts to secure public backing for her deal, which is due to be signed off by EU leaders today, that has seen her write an “open letter to Britain”.

The letter says the country needs to “get on with Brexit now by getting behind this deal”, the Sunday Express reports.

The Observer says the PM is “increasingly desperate” and sent the letter amid increasing criticism of the deal by Remainers and Leavers.

The Independent says criticism of the deal has seen Mrs May accused of giving in to demands by Spain over arrangements for future negotiations around Gibraltar.

According to the Sunday Telegraph Cabinet ministers and EU diplomats are secretly drawing up a “Plan B” in case the deal fails to clear Parliament.

In other news, the Sunday Mirror leads with the harrowing account of an abuse survivor.

The Sunday People carries a mother’s call for an inquest into her soldier son’s death.
