Man in critical condition after being hit by car

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car while crossing the road.

The 64-year-old was struck in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Thursday.

The incident happened at around 6.25pm on the northbound carriageway of Gallow Green Road near its junctions with Maxwellton Street and Broomlands Street.

It is understood the 50-year-old female driver of the Vauxhall Mokka was not hurt.

The man is being treated at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where staff have described his condition as critical.
