Dozens of firefighters called to tackle blaze at block of flats

Around 100 firefighters have been called to the scene of a blaze at a block of flats in north London.

The London Fire Brigade said it was called to the Grange Estate in East Finchley just after midnight.

Part of the roof of the three-storey building was on fire, the brigade said.

Video posted on social media showed firefighters running toward the building as flames leapt into the sky.

The Metropolitan Police said it was assisting the LFB after it was called to the scene at 1.30am.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “An evacuation process is underway. The Local Authority has been informed. We are not aware of any injuries at this stage.”
