Man charged after coins thrown at Dunfermline player

A 25-year-old man has been charged after coins were thrown at a Dunfermline footballer.

The incident took place during the Falkirk v Dunfermline game at Falkirk Stadium on October 6.

The coins did not hit the player and no one was injured.

The man is expected to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court at a later date.

Last week, a coin was thrown at Hibernian manager Neil Lennon during his team’s match against Heart of Midlothian, while a fan also allegedly attacked Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal.

At the weekend, another coin was thrown at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as he celebrated scoring a goal against St Mirren.

Detective Sergeant Kenny Halliday, Forth Valley’s dedicated football officer, said: “Throwing items on the pitch or at people is a reckless and disruptive act.

“We remain committed to pursuing those who attempt to cause others harm and ruin the game for the majority of responsible fans.”
