China to build replica ship of the Titanic

A replica of the Titanic is being built in China and is set to sail by 2022.

Aussie businessman Clive Palmer recently announced that work on the ship had recommenced - following a financial dispute with the Chinese government that halted development back in 2015.

The 'Titanic II' will be an exact replica of the original liner, with 835 cabins and will be able to accommodate 2,435 passengers along with 900 crew members, according to CNN.

To make things safer this time, more lifeboats are being added onto the £400m ship along with a welded hull and modern navigation equipment.

The ship will take passengers from Dubai to New York, with passengers being able to purchase first, second, and third-class tickets, similar to the original Titanic.

"The ship will follow the original journey, carrying passengers from Southampton to New York, but she will also circumnavigate the globe, inspiring and enchanting people while attracting unrivalled attention, intrigue and mystery in every port she visits," said Palmer in a statement.
