Attempted break-in at David and Victoria Beckham’s Cotswolds home

One of David and Victoria Beckham's homes has been targeted in an attempted break-in.

The couple's Cotswolds property was scoped out by three people who were caught on CCTV, it was reported.

The fashion designer and her ex-England footballer husband were on their way to Australia with sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper when the attempted break-in took place on Friday, Mail Online reported.

CCTV images published by the website showed three people, one seen wearing a balaclava, near the property in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.

David is joining the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Australia as an ambassador for Harry's Invictus Games for injured service personnel.

Victoria is said be distraught about incident. A source told the Mail: "David and Victoria are absolutely devastated by this. They are extremely protective of their family and their home life so the thought that people would intrude on that is just so upsetting for them.

"This has hit them hard. Victoria has been upset for the last couple of days about this, it has been so though for her. It is frightening and dreadful to think someone would be intruding on their personal space.

"David hates the fact he has to have such high tech and extremely tight security around him.

"He would love to be normal but his number one priority is to protect his wife, children and wider family. He is absolutely furious that he has now has to increase his security even more."

Great Tew is also home to the Soho Farmhouse, a countryside retreat where The Sun newspaper said Meghan held her hen do.

The attempted break-in comes to light after David admitted that his marriage to Victoria is "hard work".

In an interview with Australian TV show The Sunday Project, he said: "I think marriage is always about hard work.

"Your children, they want your time and they deserve your time and we are hard working and we feel that is the right way to bring up our children to prove and to show to them you have to work really hard to be successful.

"We have been married for a long time now, we recently did a Vogue front cover which was all about Victoria's 10 years in fashion.

"The amount she has achieved in such a short space of time – four beautiful young children, we have a beautiful dog – but obviously in her business world to be on the front cover of Vogue was a huge thing and then we did a separate picture for another cover.

"But to be married for the amount of time that we have, it's always hard work, everybody knows that but you make it work.

"You make difficult situations like travelling away, being away from each other, you make it work."
