Warm welcome for Harry and Meghan on Sydney’s Bondi Beach

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been given a warm welcome as they stepped onto the sand at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach.

The couple were met with cheers and screams as hundreds of well-wishers gathered to greet them at one of Australia’s most celebrated destinations.

They were both presented with leis – a pink garland for Meghan and a blue one for Harry – and both took their shoes off before walking along the beach.

Meghan had chosen a flowing, monochrome-striped maxi dress by Australian designer Martin Grant for the occasion, while Harry donned a blue shirt and beige chinos.

The parents-to-be then sat down to chat with surfing community group OneWave, which works to raise awareness of mental health issues, ahead of a walkabout to meet members of the public.

Harry and Meghan have already hit the beach in Melbourne and visited farmers in Dubbo as part of their 16-day tour to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

In the afternoon, Harry will climb Sydney Harbour Bridge alongside Invictus competitors to raise the flag for the games.

Their last engagements of the day will be meetings with Bill Shorten, leader of the opposition, and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
