Mother's insult inspires man's record-breaking pumpkin

A gardener has taken first prize at a contest with his massive 979-pound pumpkin, and he's credited his mother as the inspiration behind his achievement.

According to the Jersey Evening Post, Richard Le Sueur said his first effort at competitive pumpkin growing some years ago resulted in a 65-pound vegetable which his mother labelled 'pathetic'.

The insult spurred him to greater heights, and with one title under his belt, Le Sueur has hinted he may be back for more next year.

Find out the secret of his success in the video above.
