What the papers say – October 8
A mixed bag of news makes the front pages on Monday – from the so-called “Strictly curse” to the latest on Brexit.
The Times reports that Brexiteers have set a limit for Theresa May’s trade deal with the European Union, telling the PM that she can keep Britain within EU customs arrangements only until the next election in 2022.

The Financial Times carries an interview with the Japanese prime minister, in which he urged compromise to avoid a no-deal Brexit and said his country would welcome Britain to the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal “with open arms”.

Several papers lead on an apology from Strictly Come Dancing star Seann Walsh and his professional partner Katya Jones after the pair were pictured kissing.
The Daily Mirror says the pair were filmed in a “drunken street clinch”, while The Sun reports that they had issued “grovelling apologies” to their partners.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph says an investigation has found police are setting targets to investigate fewer than half of reported crimes.

And the Daily Mail claims that doctors are charging couples to help choose the sex of their baby, despite gender selection being illegal in the UK.
