My girlfriend is now my husband

A previously same-sex couple are now in a straight relationship - because one of them has transitioned into a man.

Aidan and Heather Silva from Spring, Texas, have been together for six-and-a-half years, and married since July 2016.

Aidan, 26, announced he was transgender when he was 23, and asked Heather if she would still want to be with him if he became a man.

Heather supported Aidan's decision and has been by his side as he's undergone surgery and weekly testosterone injections.
