Brewdog pulls events with US brewery over claims Trump supporters would be given free beer
Brewdog has pulled a series of UK events with an American brewery after it was claimed that Donald Trump supporters would be given free drinks.
Atlanta-based Scofflaw brewery, who describe themselves as self-confessed ‘trailer trash’, sent out a marketing release about the series of launches at Brewdog bars in London.
They claimed that tens of thousands of pounds would be put behind the bar in order to fund free beers for the public.
“But there’s a hook,” they wrote. “You have to be a Trump supporter.”
The released was subsequently pulled for ‘containing incorrect information’.
Brewdog has now cancelled the events, claiming that the promotion was launched ‘without their knowledge or consent’.
The company is now running its own giveaway, where anyone who tells staff they ‘support love not hate’ will be given a free pint.

A spokesperson told Yahoo: “This was done without our knowledge. When we found out we were completely blindsided.”
The Scofflaw release was announced without our knowledge or consent.
We are in no way aligned with their position and we will of course be cancelling all the events and sending all of the beer back.

The description of the events on the Brewdog website, which has since been removed, read: “Back in the spring we welcomed one of the hottest breweries in the United States over to Ellon for a collaborative brewday – the mighty Scofflaw Brewing Company from Atlanta, Georgia.
“We had a blast with Matt and Travis so when the opportunity arose to invite the guys back over the pond for a longer stay we had to make it happen.
“So this coming week, you can catch up with Scofflaw and try their beers in our bars as they undertake a whirlwind BrewDog tour!”
Yahoo has approached Scofflaw for a comment.
