Handcuffed woman escapes custody

A US woman was captured on camera slipping out of her handcuff and escaping a police station.

Police soon caught up with Amber Gonzales, 30, as an hour later she returned to the same hotel where she had been arrested in the first place.

It all began when Gonzales allegedly stole a mobile phone from a hotel cleaning cart at the Baymont Inn in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

She was arrested and transported to the Waukesha Police Station, where she was taken into a holding cell.

Officers then left Gonzales handcuffed to a wall in the holding cell.

Surveillance footage from the cell shows Gonzales straining to get the cuff off her right hand, repeatedly pulling at it with her free left hand.
