Mystery of 'children singing in the night' solved
A mother who was woken regularly for months by the distant sound of children singing has finally discovered what's behind the mystery.
The concerned woman eventually called on Ipswich borough council to investigate the creepy rendition of 'It's raining, it's pouring...'
A council officer discovered the noise coming from a security device at a unit on an industrial estate in the Suffolk town. The music was designed to deter trespassers, but the sensors were being activated by a cluster of spiders.
The site owner has now adjusted the device to ensure residents aren't disturbed.
The woman, who does not want to be identified, said: "It's a massive relief and I'm looking forward to getting some actual sleep from now on.
"It was waking me up in the night, it was absolutely terrifying. I heard it at all times of the night - 1am, 2am, 4am - it was sporadic, sometimes it would play once, other times it was over and over.
"Last week it played for hours, it was just horrible."
