Mercedes unveils its first fully electric car

Mercedes has shown how it is aggressively aiming for the top spot in the upscale battery cars market, currently dominated by Tesla, as it unveiled its first fully electric car at an event in Stockholm.

The event showcased the EQC, an SUV with a 450km range, that Mercedes hopes will find favour with luxury customers and tech-savvy millennials alike.

Daimler aims to have as many as 10 electrified car variants by 2022.
