Journalist chases and detains assault suspect
A journalist chasing a story helped apprehend a suspect who was out-running the police.
Daniel Webb was passing on his bike when he came across an alleged assault outside a branch of TK Maxx in Swindon, Wiltshire.
He watched police chase the man down the road before realising they were struggling to catch up.
So he raced after the man on his bike and managed to detain him 30 seconds before a police dog handler arrived armed with a Taser.
Following his dramatic intervention he took to Twitter:
Good deed of the day done! I came across four police officers being out-run by an assault suspect this afternoon. Luckily, I joined the pursuit on my bicycle and managed to detain the man before a dog handler joined me 30 seconds later with his taser at the ready. pic.twitter.com/USJgwOCYNw

Fantastic Daniel! This is a true example of a community spirited citizen, helping the cops rather than filming the action. Restores your faith re the past few weeks @CCARhodes ? https://t.co/c7TI6hjFxE

Thank you to everyone who's tweeted and messaged me today to thank me for helping police yesterday. I didn't do it for praise but all your lovely comments have made me smile. I'm proud to have done my bit for my community. I didn't need to think twice, I just sprang into action!
