Tourists freeze to the spot as wild elephants drink from resort's swimming pool

A couple on holiday in South Africa got a little too close to comfort earlier this week to some of the country's largest residents - wild African elephants.

The couple were sunbathing by the pool at a private camp in Kruger National Park when the group of bull elephants decided to stop by for a drink.

Another couple, who were also planning to catch some rays, got to the pool and couldn't believe their eyes when the saw the pair lying stock still on their loungers with the three huge creatures just a few feet away.

They decided to film the encounter.

"We were absolutely amazed by what was happening," said the filmer.

"The elephants did not seem bothered by the presence of the people and casually continued to drink water out of the pool," he said.

"One of the most amusing sights we have seen in a long time," he added.
