England get royal approval as Princes William and Harry declare: 'It's coming home'.

Princes William and Harry threw their support behind England’s World Cup adventure as both declared: ‘It’s coming home’.

The Duke of Cambridge issued a rallying cry to Gareth Southgate’s men ahead of their World Cup clash, declaring that ‘the whole country is behind them’.

William’s brother the Duke of Sussex also backed England before their biggest night of football in 28 years.

Harry, who was visiting Dublin with wife Meghan, was asked by a reporter if ‘football was coming home’ – the chant from the hugely popularly Three Lions anthem.

As Harry and Meghan posed for a picture with President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina, the duke replied laughing ‘most definitely’.

His tone was more positive than at a garden party at the British ambassador’s residence in Dublin on Tuesday night when he told Irish rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll he was not as confident as everyone else and wanted to avoid jinxing the result.

William, who is president of the Football Association, told the Three Lions the whole country is behind them ahead of the semi-final in Moscow.

The duke said: ‘A new generation is enjoying the magic of this World Cup run.

‘The whole country is right behind you tonight. Come on England – it’s coming home!’

England fans who have jetted in for the semi-final have backed Gareth Southgate’s young team to reach the nation’s first World Cup final in 52 years.

The 23-man squad, which has an average age of just over 26 and was the tournament’s third youngest, have the hopes and expectations of a nation on their shoulders.

Police estimated as many as 10,000 England fans could be in the Russian capital for the game, which kicks off at 9pm local time (7pm UK).
