Tributes left at beach where girl died in inflatable trampoline fall

Tributes have been left to a little girl who died after she was thrown from an inflatable trampoline at a busy tourist beach.

The youngster, who has not been named by police, was injured in Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, on Sunday morning.

According to some eyewitness accounts, the inflatable exploded, flinging the girl into the air.

She later died at the James Paget Hospital.

A growing number of teddy bears and bunches of flowers have been left against a metal perimeter fence encircling an area of the beach where the deflated inflatable was still in place on Monday morning.

A uniformed officer placed tributes brought to the scene behind police tape.

One tribute read: "Taken too soon. Thinking of all your family. Such a sad loss. Sleep tight angel."

A second said: "Rest in paradise little one X"

Norfolk Police said officers were called to "reports a child had been thrown from an inflatable trampoline" at around 11.15am on Sunday.

A joint investigation between police, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local council is under way.

It said the girl's next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was due to take place on Monday to determine the cause of her death.

Robert Halfon, the Conservative MP for Harlow, Essex - where seven-year-old Summer Grant was killed when a bouncy castle blew free from its moorings in 2016 - wants politicians to consider a temporary ban on inflatables in public spaces.

He said he has written to the Speaker of the House of Commons requesting an urgent question on the matter on Monday.
