Mr Jagger specialises in cataract surgery and adult ophthalmology.

The Queen had successful eye surgery to remove a cataract from one of her eyes in May.

It is not known whether it was Mr Jagger who carried out the procedure.

The Royal Victorian Order awards are in the Queen's gift and are bestowed independently of Downing Street to people who have served the monarch or the royal family in a personal way.

The Queen has also recognised her senior surgeon - two months after her husband the Duke of Edinburgh underwent a successful hip replacement operation.

Satyajit Bhattacharya, Serjeant-Surgeon to the Royal Household, has been made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).

Philip, who is 97 on Sunday, has recovered since having the procedure in April, and was well enough to walk unaided at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding last month.

The post of Serjeant-Surgeon dates back to the 13th century when the holder of the position accompanied the king into battle.

In modern times, it changed to the role of senior surgeon to the monarch.

The Queen has also honoured Windsor Castle's carpet planner Gary Ganley, making him a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO).

Windsor was the setting for Harry and Meghan's star-studded nuptials.

Laura Baker, the Duke of Cambridge's assistant private secretary, is made an MVO, as is the man who was tasked with care and security of the Crown Jewels - Martin Swift, the former Crown Jeweller.
