What the papers say - May 15

Meghan Markle's father Thomas features prominently on the front pages on Tuesday over reports that he may not be walking his daughter down the aisle on Saturday.

And violence in Gaza as the new American embassy was opened in Jerusalem also dominates the headlines.

The Daily Mirror claims Mr Markle has pulled out of the royal wedding so as not to embarrass his daughter.

The paper says the 73-year-old is reportedly worried about attending the ceremony after allegations surfaced that he had staged a series of paparazzi shots.

Mr Markle is also said to have suffered a heart attack just days ago, The Sun reports.

Meghan's mother Doria may now have to give her away, the paper adds.

Both the Daily Express and the Daily Star also lead on the same story, with the Express reporting that the royal wedding had been "thrown into chaos".

Kensington Palace described the situation as a "deeply personal moment" for Ms Markle and asked for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr Markle, the Metro says.

The Times features the royal wedding woes on its front page, but leads on violent clashes in Gaza.

At least 52 Palestinians were killed and thousands injured when Israeli forces opened fire on protesters as the US opened its embassy in Jerusalem, the paper reports.

The Daily Mail brands it a "bloodbath", while the Guardian reports that Gaza suffered its bloodiest day in years.

Both the i and the Independent feature striking images of the troubles on their front pages.

Elsewhere, the Daily Telegraph leads on Brexit, reporting that Theresa May had admitted negotiations were at an impasse because neither of her options for a customs deal with the EU would work.

The Financial Times says the Supreme Court paved the way for legalised sport gambling across the US after overturning a ban on such wagering in almost all American states.
