What can Harry and Meghan look forward to at their pre-wedding hotels?

The hotels where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will spend the night before their wedding both offer luxury, secluded accommodation and a host of activities.

Ms Markle is staying with her mother at the Cliveden House Hotel in Taplow, Berkshire, where the star attraction is the Spring Cottage.

Costing from £2,055 per night, the three-bedroom cottage features a "country kitchen" with an Aga cooker, two lounges with an open fireplace and an office.

The hotel claims the property offers "the utmost in privacy and escapism" and is "perfect for families, small groups or couples seeking an indulgent and romantic hideaway".

It is set on the banks of the River Thames and includes its own private boat launch mooring.

Cliveden House also features 34 bedroom and nine suites, including one named the Prince of Wales Suite.

If the bride needs to settle any pre-wedding nerves, she may take a stroll through the tranquil water garden, or if she wants a distraction she may embark on the Cliveden Maze.

There is also a fitness trail, tennis courts and heated swimming pools.

Football Steven Gerrard married Alex Curran at the hotel in 2007.

Cliveden House boasts of hosting "debaucherous parties and scandalous affairs", and it played an integral role in the Profumo affair.

Then-Secretary of State for War John Profumo first spotted a 19-year-old Christine Keeler skinny dipping in an outdoor pool at the hotel in 1961.

They went on the have an affair which enthralled and scandalised the nation in 1963.

Profumo was forced to quit his job following lurid disclosures of high-society sex parties and claims he had shared his mistress with a Soviet defence attache.

Harry will be staying just 15 miles away at the Dorchester Collection's Coworth Park in Ascot with his best man and brother the Duke of Cambridge.

The hotel has 70 rooms, but its "jewel in the crown" is the Dower House.

A three-bedroom house built in 1775, the interior is decorate "as a private client might envisage their own English country home".

It has a private garden which features a stream which is home to a family of swans.

A spokeswoman for the hotel said rates for the house are only available "on application" but hotel suites cost from £558 per night including breakfast.

The thought of using Cowarth Park for pre-wedding accommodation may have come to Harry during his regular appearances on the hotel's own polo fields, which are managed by Guards Polo Club.

As a helicopter pilot, he could also have noted the hotel's helipad, or perhaps he will relax at the spa.

Cowarth Park featured in ITV's X Factor in 2010 when it was the location for judge Cheryl Cole to select which female singers went through to the next stage of the talent show.
