Handcuffed defendant escapes courtroom and leaps from balcony

CCTV from a courthouse in Utah shows the extraordinary moment a handcuffed defendant runs out of a courtroom and then throws himself off a second-floor balcony.

State courts spokesman Geoffrey Fattah said Christopher Clay Rudd, 35, fractured his leg, pelvis and skull in the fall. It remains unclear if Rudd, who was facing drug charges, was attempting to escape or simply injure himself.
