Two charged after car hits pedestrians in Newport

Two teenagers have been charged after a car collided with four people in Newport.

Gwent Police said an 18-year-old, from the city, had been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving.

A 19-year-old, also from Newport, has been charged with affray.

Both remain in police custody and will appear at Newport Magistrates' Court.

A man and three women were taken to hospital following the incident in Cambrian Road at 5.30am on Sunday.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "A 19-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and assisting an offender, but has been released under investigation.

"A 22-year-old woman also from Newport was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, but has since been released under investigation.

Police previously said two of the women had suffered potentially life-changing injuries.
