Donald Trump's UK visit: What we know so far

Here is what we know so far as the UK prepares for US President Donald Trump's visit this summer.

- Mr Trump will visit the UK on Friday July 13.

- This date follows the Nato summit which the president is due to attend in Brussels on the previous days.

- Prime Minister Theresa May said she is "looking forward" to welcoming President Trump on what is described as a "working visit".

- The president cancelled a planned trip to London to open the new US embassy in Vauxhall earlier this year, complaining the move "off location" to south of the Thames had been a "bad deal". But it is thought his decision may have been driven by a fear of protests in the capital.

- The threat of protests is also believed to be behind the postponement of a state visit mooted for 2017.

- The US ambassador to Britain, Robert Wood Johnson, said Mr Trump "really wants" to meet the Queen, adding the president would "definitely" be coming to London, despite the warnings of likely demonstrations.

- Full details of the trip are yet to be announced, although various media reports have said Mr Trump will indeed meet the Queen.

- Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Balmoral have been tipped as locations for the royal encounter.

- Asked how concerned the president is about the prospect of protests, the US ambassador to Britain said: "He's very thick-skinned."

- Downing Street said further details of the visit will be set out "in due course".
