The Duke of Cambridge has decided to miss the FA Cup Final on the day of Prince Harry's wedding, according to reports.

William, who is President of the Football Association, had a diary clash when Harry and Meghan Markle's May 19 nuptials were announced.

ITV News reported that William has been struggling to work out how he could attend both but has decided to put his wedding duties first and miss the match at Wembley.

William is expected to be his brother's best man when Harry weds his American actress fiancee at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The ceremony, in front of 600 guests and a worldwide television audience, begins at noon, followed by a reception in St George's Hall and an evening party at Frogmore House.

Both Kensington Palace and the FA declined to comment.

One Twitter user remarked: "He's putting his brother before the FA cup final, how dare he?"

Another said "It's the right thing to do. His only brother" while some quipped "So there's a spare ticket going?"
