Boy arrested after girl stabbed at school

A girl is being treated in hospital after being stabbed while at school.

Police said the pupil suffered a puncture wound to her abdomen during the incident at Testwood Sports College in Totton, Southampton, at 11.08am on Monday.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested, according to a Hampshire police spokeswoman.

She said: "A female student had been assaulted and suffered a puncture wound to her abdomen.

"The injury is not considered life threatening and she is being treated in hospital.

"Officers are on scene carrying out inquiries.

"A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with this incident."

The school posted on Twitter: "As you may be aware there has been an incident here at Testwood this morning. The situation is under control and students are not in any danger. We are working with the police on this matter and we are unable to give any further details at this moment."

And it added: "Please be aware that this incident was an isolated incident and the parents of the affected students have been made aware. We understand your concerns however students are safe and working in their normal lessons."
